3 Ways To Amp Up Your Solo Basketball Practice

Blog

Because of the new pandemic-affected world we're living in, it's not always possible to meet your pals for a friendly pickup game. Thank goodness a basketball and a hoop are still entertaining for solo play. It's never been more vital to be able to relieve a bit of stress by shooting a few hoops on your own. But even with the most vibrant imagination, your solo game can get a little boring eventually. Here are a few fun ways to amp up your solo basketball practice so you can keep shooting hoops and having a good time even when you can't get together with your friends.

Glow-in-the-Dark Basketball

Without the requisite lighting, which can cost a lot of money to set up, it's a little difficult to shoot some hoops in the dark. But you don't need to light up the court if you can light up your basketball. It's not exactly the same as a fully lit court, but that doesn't mean it's not fun. A glow-in-the-dark basketball will add an entertaining new way to challenge yourself during a solo game and allow you to keep playing after the sun goes down. How much more satisfying will that shot from the three-point line be when you're hitting net in the dark? It's also a great option if your only place to shoot hoops is the public outdoor court. Contact a glow-in-the-dark basketball supplier to learn more about your options.

Training Gloves

Training gloves are designed to make ball handling just a little bit more difficult, whether that's through added weight or a slippery surface. The idea is that after training with the gloves, when you remove them, you'll have strengthened the muscles in your hands and improved your finger agility and ball-handling skills.

Chair Dribbling

Have a spare office chair? You can improve your dribbling and ball-handling skills even when you're sitting down and watching TV. Take your chair and put it at a height that allows you to dribble the ball underneath both your legs while seated. You'll need to sit at the edge of the chair in order to allow for enough room to do so. Start by bouncing it back and forth between your legs for 30 seconds. Then switch to one bounce and then a dribble between the legs. Keep that up for 30 seconds. Then it gets a little trickier: one bounce, over the leg, through the middle, under the other leg, and repeat. And the final drill: a dribble over the leg, through the middle, and then right back.
